Winning Britain’s Top Tradesperson in 2017 was a great honour and achievement. We won out of over 5000 entrants from all over the UK, still to this date we can’t believe the achievement of winning.
The Story
I had seen the competition a few years previous and I thought why not enter it as our work and customer care is excellent.
I had to present photos and details of jobs that we had carried out including references from customers, these were followed up by Screwfix to verify what we said was true , we had been shortlisted for the Scotland regional finals which I attended and sat in front of a panel from Screwfix to explain what we done and how we run our business , we mentioned about our customer care and how I’m a strong believer in apprenticeships, I was also quizzed on various industry and customer related subjects.
A few weeks later I received the call to inform us that we had been chosen as UK finalists and invited to attend the finals at Wembley Stadium, this was an incredible achievement in itself. Once I was down at Wembley Stadium I had to be interviewed in front of a panel of various industry leaders, again I explained what we do and who we are at LCD Heating & Gas Services and how we take great pride in the work that we do, the importance of apprenticeships within the plumbing industry and on how we pride ourselves on our customer care.
WINNERS!!!
I received a phone call the following week naming us as the winners. For the first time in my life I was actually speechless. We appeared in numerous newspapers and all over social media, the positive comments we received not only from customers but from others in the industry was really humbling, we have used the win to grow our business and to assure new customers that they are dealing with the best around.
